I am a final year student at GBS and I transferred to this school from European University. I have studied in EU in Barcelona for one semester and I was frustrated by the poor education and high level of corruption of the management. Most students came to the European University just for having fun and relaxing. They didn’t have a strong intention to study and to achieve the goals of their life. I was not like them. I was dreaming about a successful professional career, creation of the own business and that was not the right place for these dreams.

It made me start looking for other universities, which would fit into my expectations. After a couple of days, by chance, I have found the information about GBS in the Internet. It seemed to me pretty attractive and I decided to visit the campus in Barcelona. GBS faculty really impressed me; they were willing to solve all my problems and help as much as possible. I was very satisfied with the programs offered by the university. For that moment I was the only Russian in the Barcelona campus and I could practice English as much as I wanted. Geneva Business School has campuses all over the world and I decided to use this opportunity and I transferred to Geneva campus of GBS.

Now I can say that I have never been frustrated by anything in this school. The only one thing is that the campus in Geneva is not that much big and it is because Geneva is a small city. What I really like that they offer different languages to study, they have an excellent academic programs and professors that are professionally active and are willing to share their business experience with the students. Also they assist the students with accommodation, visa issues and simply ready to help. I like the active and energetic faculty that organize different sport activities and are always in. I appreciate the cozy atmosphere in the university and the opportunity to be mistaken. What is very important, I was helped to find the internships in Geneva what is, honestly, very tough to do and I am very grateful to GBS for giving me that amazing opportunity to find the right path in my life and to implement all my dreams and plans.

Andrei Albu, Russia, Moscow
Bachelor student, Economist-financier at Gazprom

I have been studying in the UK for 3 years already. My first 2 years I spent at Stowe School, which is in Buckinghamshire, Stowe. There I had the opportunity to study Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics, Russian and French. At the end of my first year of A-Levels I researched universities and found out that some of my friends studied in Geneva. Based on their opinions and advice I decided to go to an Open Day. At the end of the Open Day I was completely sure I wanted to spend my next three years here in GBS. Despite the fact that I could have become a good chemist (after graduating from my
Russian school in Moscow I was enrolled at a course at Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia) I decided to head for Economics. Now in the firm belief I can say that studying Economics is fun, exciting and prestigious. Russian mentality unfortunately has not yet changed and people still believe Economics is boring, annoying and sometimes it is enough to make one sick. A large number of students in Russia apply for Economics and after graduating they don`t what to recall their 5 years at University.

This is why I chose GBS. I like the teaching style, the structure of the course and of course the people that surround me. Usually after lectures 100 questions can come to my mind, this is why during the day we sometimes have tutorials, which are 100% helpful. Small group classes are usually led by 3rd year students, of course, the top ones. Moreover I have a variety of open units, which I can take in all three years. It makes my education more flexible and more challenging as well.

Accommodation varies at Geneva. I stay in private accommodation and so far I enjoy it totally. Geneva overall is very nice. In Geneva people are very nice and friendly.

If you are indeed considering studying overseas then contact those who are already studying there. They are the best witnesses. Use social networks then do some research. You may consider first doing A-Levels. My advice is to come and see it with your own eyes and feel it with your own hearts.

This is the end of my small story and the beginning of a new chapter in my life. My plans? As they say ‘if you want to make god laugh, tell him your plans’. However, to be perfectly honest, I got a job in Russia’s state-controlled energy conglomerate. You may have probably heard of Gazprom.

The reason why I moved to GBS it provides the best education out of its local competitors like European university and Webster where I originaly studied before transfering to GBS. To me the biggest advantage of GBS is the fact that schedule are taylor made with very practical business oriented subject, from which you can decide to focus one several business majors. Furthermore, all teachers are active in the business world, which makes a huge difference in term of education because they really know they subject and on which point they should emphasize in their teaching.

GBS has rooms which are big enough for comfortable studying, equipped with modern technologies. Besides education, GBS does a good job at providing outside sport activities and they are often fun. GBS does not require buying tons of books like it is in other universities, an iPad is enough for effective studying. In GBS it is easy to transfer credits from other universities and it is very good. Only GBS helps students getting permit B, accommodation and internships, other universities don’t help with it.

Danyar Tokbayev, Kazakhstan, Astana
PhD Student, Senior manager — deputy head of Funding division of Treasury Department and ALM

After completing a master degree, I seriously thought of continuation of the education. I was engaged in search of a higher educational institution for studying on doctorate program the whole year and, having chosen GBS. I want to note that in nowadays it isn’t important on how many educational institutions popularly and how many students are graduated there. My supervisor of the doctoral dissertation is the ingenious person Dr. Yerris. This is the young scientist who has degrees of PhD and CFA. Geneva Business School positions itself as a platform for self-realization by means of the most skilled teachers of practicians. Individual approach to each training defines quality of education.

Gauhar Sabitova, Kazakhstan, Almaty
Bachelor student, Intern in the Marketing Department

I am Sabitova Gauhar , was exchange student at Geneva Business School in autumn semester 2014-2015. The life at GBS was very exciting, because I was a member of Marketing department. Organizing activities, attracting students to join and have fun together — these were the best parts of it, because even if you don’t know some students, you try to be close them or sometimes convincing and explaining how fun it is kind of advertisement. And it is funny!!!! But sometimes laziness is killing people and does not allow to go.

The student life at GBS without activities would be really boring!!! The main advantages of it: having new friends, being more social, trying new stuffs (climbing, karting, diving), to have energy every week, and just to know that you don’t spend your free time for useless things. Whenever if you want to experience some new activities, the slogan of the department is: YOU WILL NEVER DIE, JUST TRY IT ONCE!!!! But for sure you will never REGRET!

The education program was very interesting. When you have professors from state-owned or private sectors, they have too many knowledge to tell or experiences they had. The projects, conferences, new professors all made mind to be more boarder and get new ideas.

Even one semester is a short time I am very grateful to all GBS stuffs. Whenever you need a help just ask them, and they will find the best way to solve the it. And I am lucky person because I was at Geneva Business School with great, awesome people! GBS can open a way to the successful future...
